Jeffrey Rouse, M.D., Chief Deputy Coroner and Chief Psychiatrist
Dr. Rouse is Chief Deputy Coroner and Chief Forensic Psychiatrist at the New Orleans Forensic Center. He received his M.D. at Georgetown University, and completed training in adult psychiatry and forensic psychiatry at Tulane University Department of Psychiatry and Neurology, where he is also an Assistant Professor. For his efforts in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in assistance to the New Orleans Police Department, he was awarded the 2007 Bruno Lima Award for Excellence in Disaster Psychiatry by the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Rouse also serves as a consultant to the New Orleans Police Department, including the SWAT Crisis Negotiation Team.
Alvaro Hunt, M.D., Chief Forensic Pathologist
Dr. Hunt has been affiliated with the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office for many years, serving first from 1973 – 1979 as a Coroner’s Pathologist. From 1980 through 1988, he served as the Coroner’s Pathologist for Jefferson Parish. In 1992, he returned to Orleans Parish, serving as Coroner’s Pathologist, becoming the Chief Pathologist in 2002, and assuming the duties as Coroner’s representative on the Orleans Parish Criminal Grand Jury. Dr. Hunt is Board Certified in Anatomical, Clinical, and Forensic Pathology.
